About the University

The University is located in Christchurch, the largest city in New Zealand's South Island. On the coastal edge of the Canterbury Plains, the city is close to both the sea and the mountains. The university's modern and well-equipped facilities are spread across a spacious suburban campus, with easy access to the centre of the city and the cultural and recreational facilities it provides. The University of Canterbury offers a wide variety of subjects in a few flexible degree structures. We offer first and postgraduate degrees in Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Forestry, Law, Music and Science.

History

Established in 1873, the University of Canterbury is New Zealand's second oldest university.
