The Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust has been busy raising funds for the transfer of tūī to Hinewai in April 2009. Excitement is growing as the time approaches for transferring up to 30 birds. Trust staff and members will have information on tūī available at both the Duvauchelle and Little River A&P Shows and will be selling merchandise associated with the tūī project to help raise funds for their transfer
People are invited to submit entries for the photo/ art competition
titled "NZ native bird photographed on Banks Peninsula" in categories
for under, and over 15 years old.
This competition is sponsored by the Banks Peninsula Conservation
Trust with first and second prizes in the photo and art competition
at the Duvauchelle A&P Show on Sat 10 January. Take entries to
the Domestic Produce Shed at the Duvauchelle Show ground before 9.30am
on 10 January. Art work must be strung for hanging and photos
mounted on a half sheet of A4 white paper.
Does anyone have a close-up photo of tui on Banks Peninsula? There have been sightings of individual tūī, and the occasional photograph taken, but we are not aware that anyone has yet produced a close-up shot of tūī on the Peninsula.
Come and lend your support, submit any NZ native bird photos or artwork at the Duvauchelle Show, and visit us at the Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust tent. See you at the shows!
For
more information, call the Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust office
on 329-6340, email rachel.barker@bpct.org.nz or
the tūī coordinator Heidi Stevens on 322-4714 or go to http://www.tuisong.org.nz.

Research and Consultancy has begun work on the 2008 UC Research Report. We are now asking staff to enter their research outputs for the period 1 January to 31 December 2008 into the UC People & Research database.
On campus, the UC People & Research database is located via the UC Portal (ucportal.canterbury.ac.nz). Off campus the Portal can be accessed via www.secure.ucportal.canterbury.ac.nz/portal/DesktopDefault.aspx.
When you check your 2008 research outputs it’s a great time to record your peer esteem and contribution to the research environment items, via your ‘All PE/CRE’ tab, in preparation for the 2012 PBRF evaluation. It’s also a great time to check your UC Research Profile and update it as necessary. A Profile enhancement was recently released to include "Prizes and Awards" and "Research Service" (including post-graduate student supervision) sections on your Profile person page.
Further information about the UC Research Report can be found on the intranet at www.intranet.canterbury.ac.nz/research/ucresearchreport.shtml. Database training is available - please contact Maxine Bryant to arrange this.
