Canterprise Ltd is the commercial arm of the University of Canterbury. Canterprise handles commercial activities, including staff consulting, commercial research contracts, technology transfer and commercialisation of intellectual property. Canterprise will provide advice on the formulation of contracts, including costing, confidentiality arrangements, and intellectual property protection. Canterprise assists staff in obtaining funding from investors, industry and Technology New Zealand, including the GRIF, TBG, TechNet and TechLink schemes.
New Benefits
Canterprise will now prepay to the University the salary component of
consulting income at the time the client is invoiced. This will
enable staff to receive their payment from the University much more
quickly than has been possible in the past. For obvious reasons this
service will only be provided for work done for established clients.
Payments to E accounts will continue to be made once the payment is
received.
Insurance
Cover
Canterprise has now been advised by its insurers that staff will
still be covered by its Professional Indemnity policy when the
payment of their consulting revenue is made directly to a company in
which the staff member has an interest. This provides the opportunity
to speed up payments to staff, as Canterprise can pay the income
direct to the company rather than via the University. There are also
a number of other potential benefits associated with operating a
company.
VISA
It is now possible for clients to pay Canterprise by VISA if they
wish to do so.
