Tracking media contributions

The External Relations Department tracks staff comment in the media and publishes a summary regularly on the Newsroom site, accessible off the University's Web home page. The news monitoring service picks up references to University of Canterbury and Canterbury University so if staff are to be credited for their media contributions the UC connection needs to be explicit. Staff are encouraged to ask reporters to make reference to the University when identifying the commentator - most media would be prepared to use a style such as Dr Jane Smith, a Canterbury University sociologist.

Fox FM & The Wireless Ashburton Survey

Fox FM & The Wireless wish to have an independent survey done, a series of around 8 questions to ask between 400-600 Mid Canterbury homes and retailers.  This would incorporate questions that would help us better understand the listening habits of our listeners and which radio station of ours  they tune into.  Also there would be a question within that for one of our clients to help better establish their marketing.

We are picking it would take 10 people around 10 hours each to do the survey, then evaluate the information afterwards.  We are wanting to know if any departments are interested in picking this up as a research project of which we could pay a donation to their research department. We would be interested to hear from any departments in the next week to see if there is actually an interest at the University for this.

Please contact Di Palmer on (03) 307 9595, or email di.palmer@ashburton.co.nz.
