Cyber Liability Seminar

2 April, 12noon - Council Room, Registry

Staff are invited to attend a Cyber Liability seminar to be presented by Jonathan Forsey of law firm Duncan Cotterill. Lunch will be provided and the seminar will end at 1.30pm.

Mr Forsey will discuss email defamation, cyber libel, internet access, electronic contracts and transactions, and the legal context with respect to legislation such as the Privacy Act, Official Information Act, Fair Trading Act, Public Records Act and others. He will use case studies and examples and there will be an opportunity for questions.

This seminar is suitable for all, and would be of particular relevance for staff with privacy and other compliance responsibilities within their areas.

Cycling 101: Adult Cycle Skills Workshop

International Fulbright Science & Technology Awards

Fulbright New Zealand is calling for applications to the US government's most prestigious and valuable education scholarships. Valued at more than NZ$250,000 each, the awards are for promising graduate students to undertake PhD study at top American universities in fields of science, technology or engineering.

Approximately 25 awards are offered each year to graduate students from around the world who demonstrate unique aptitude and innovation in scientific fields, leadership potential and the ability to be a cultural ambassador for their country. Candidates are nominated by their home country's Fulbright commission and selected by rigorous international competition.

Exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of Scott Base

The 20th January 2007 marked 50 years since the establishment of Scott Base in Antarctica. This base is something that New Zealanders are very proud of as it is a key part of New Zealand's international involvement and a significant contributor to Antarctic scientific research.

The Library is pleased to host an exhibition that marks this significant event. A photographic essay that documents the establishment of Scott Base is currently on display in the Central Library, Level 2 Lounge until 9 April.


Early Childhood Learning Centre (ECLC) 20th Anniversary Reunion - 26 May

The Parents' Committee of the Early Childhood Learning Centre is planning a get-together for parents of children currently and formerly enrolled at the ECLC and current and former ECLC staff. SELLING for $60 each, the Entertainment™ Book contains savings on accommodation, attractions, dining and leisure activities of between 25-50%. Sales of this book last year helped raise $1000 for the UC Alumni Association’s Student Scholarship Fund. Books sold out quickly last year so be in quick.
