The Web Rebrand Project is almost complete and Web Team is now able to refocus on working more with departments and providing new support and consultancy services. We are building a new Style Guide and new ways of collaborating with our many colleagues involved in web publishing at UC. There are some significant major web projects about to commence and we need input from UC staff to make these a success.
Web Manager, Ken Beatson will provide a general update on:
We invite any UC staff with an interest in the web, especially web administrators and co-ordinators. Interested staff will also be invited to comment via forums held on specific topics and online in a new discussion area.
In the past, the time required to validate and verify changes to staff qualifications has often meant delays in updating staff contact details. Human Resources have now separated these two procedures.
Changes made to staff contact details through the online UC Employee Self Service website will now be automatically accepted and updated.
However, staff qualification information can no longer be updated online – it can only be ‘viewed’. Staff now need to complete and print an online form, then submit it along with original documentation to the College or Service Unit HR Advisor.
For more information please refer to the UC Employee Self Service website.

Ten years ago, on 15 May 1997, the world-famous Rieger pipe organ in the Christchurch Town Hall auditorium was officially handed over to the city and inaugurated. Since then, it has become a major icon of the city's cultural life.
To mark its 10th anniversary, and as a thank you to the people of Christchurch who fundraised over many years for the organ, there will be a special free birthday concert on Tuesday 15 May.
This will be given by the Town Hall organ curator and international concert organist, Associate Professor Martin Setchell, with the support of Vbase, the Christchurch City Council and the Friends of the Town Hall Organ.
A lunchtime concert will be held from 1.10pm to 1.55pm. There is no pre-booking or charge for admission, but patrons are advised to get there in plenty of time to secure a seat. The auditorium doors will open at 12.40pm.
The compere will be Christopher Doig and a guest performance by Mayor Garry Moore is also planned.
Expect to hear all your favourite organ pieces, like Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, and Widor's Toccata in F, together with some organ pops like the trumpet Voluntary (Clarke), The Entertainer (Joplin) and Martin Setchell's own arrangement of Vangelis's Conquest of Paradise better-known as the theme song of the Canterbury Crusaders.
For more information see www.organist.co.nz.

We have resumed the very popular Wellness Checks for staff (there is a small charge of $10). The appointments for these checks are held on Monday morning with Theresa Madden.
We would also like to invite female staff, who are due or overdue for their cervical smears, to book an appointment with a nurse. This service is available for UC staff and we hope there will be good uptake of this preventive healthcare initiative. The nurse is available for appointments each weekday morning. There will be a (very competitive) charge of $25 for this.
The Health
Centre Walking Group will resume on Monday 7 May 2007. All
staff are invited to join the walks which begin from outside
the Health Centre at 12.30pm daily.
The 10th Appeal has commenced and the collection box is in the Registry Concourse. As usual, donations of warm clothing, rugs, blankets and non-perishable foodstuffs such as tinned soup are welcomed. The Christchurch City Mission collects the goods on a regular basis and is always extremely appreciative of the University's support. Enquiries to Margaret Ricketts, Law, extension 3141.
The Conference Office team are available to help. The Conference Office manages conferences on and off campus for a variety of departments. We can help with conferences of all sizes and offer differing levels of service according to your budget and requirements.
