Following your favourite news feeds - Business, teaching, research or personal interests. Starting from the beginning with using Bloglines (http://bloglines.com).
*RSS is a way to keep track of what is going on in a website without
actually visiting it. If the website has RSS, you subscribe to the
'Feed' and can then skim the headlines and decide if there is anything
you want to visit to read further. This has become popular with blogs
- but feeds have existed for many years before blogs.
Feed readers have become very straightforward to use. This is a beginners
session.

Under the "mushroom" in the College of Engineering
The Innovation Expo showcases displays from local engineering companies who are leading their field in research, design and development. Companies such as WhisperGen, who has designed the wobble yoke engine, and Infact who are a market leading electrical engineering company based in Christchurch.
This year there are 15 companies displaying their products, some of which are looking for either summer workers or future graduate employees.
Features of this year's Innovation Expo are the Britten Motorbike and a display from the world record holding Flying Kiwi race team. The Britten motorbike, arguably the best motorbike of it's time, was partly developed in the Mechanical Engineering Department here at the University of Canterbury. The Flying Kiwi sidecar which gained the world record for the fastest sidecar in the world on the Canterbury Plains last year was developed with the help of some of the technicians in the Mechanical Engineering Department and was tested in the wind tunnel to improve the aerodynamics.

This week on the Museum Detective we revisit a popular topic — art theft and objects that have been illegally excavated or exported. Our guest is Derek Fincham, a legal expert from the University of Aberdeen. Derek tells us that the illicit trade of cultural property is an international problem and that museums are deeply embedded in it. We also hear about some museum staff who have not been so squeaky clean in their museum practice.
Episodes can also be downloaded from museumdetective.com.
