Free graduation shuttle

19 and 21 December

Avoid parking hassles by taking advantage of the free graduation shuttle service running between the University, Arts Centre and Town Hall. Departs from Fine Arts Car Park and returns from Town Hall. Staff, graduands, friends and family are all welcome to use this service. For more details see www.canterbury.ac.nz/acad/graduation/shuttle or contact the Graduation Office.


Christmas Leave Dates 2007/2008

The following shows the confirmed statutory and University holidays over the Christmas/New Year period 2007/2008 for those members of staff covered by the provisions of the Collective Agreements or corresponding Individual Agreements listed below. Advice concerning these matters for staff covered by other agreements not listed will be issued in due course by the appropriate authority.

The University will close at the end of Friday 21 December 2007 and will re-open on Thursday 3 January 2008. During this period (including statutory and University holidays) the Security Office (under the Main Library) will be open around the clock.

The Contact Centre for the 0800 Varsity number and the enrol@canterbury.ac.nz email service and website will remain open between Christmas and New Year for the hours 8am to 6pm. (The main University telephone exchange (03) 366 7001 — is closed during this period).

Please ensure that all your staff are notified of the vacation dates for 2007/2008.

Enquiries regarding this leave entitlement should be referred in the first instance to the relevant Human Resources Advisor. Leave for Staff covered by the following Collective Agreements or Individual Agreements as appropriate: Academic Staff & Senior Tutors, General Staff, Early Childhood Staff, Cleaners and Custodians, Maintenance Staff, Grounds Staff.


Christmas Canticle

Brigitte Murray (soprano) and Maurice Till (piano) present Christmas Canticle.  Enjoy music and readings for the season at St Mary’s in Merivale, Church Lane (off Papanui Road), 5pm, Sunday 16 December.  Entry is free, but there will be a retiring collection.  Enjoy Christmas cake afterwards in the Ferrier Room.

New Year’s Concerts — The Nut Point Gallery

  • 7.30pm, Thursday 17 January — Jon Sander, Eoin Duignan. Original and traditional music. From Co. Kerry, Ireland.
