Friday 25 July, 12-12.50pm, Okeover Community Garden.
Due to the cold and rather muddy conditions, this workshop has been
postponed to a later date (tba).
Semester 2 courses and workshops are now being offered and individual
appointments are available to students throughout the academic year.
LSC can also offer either general learning skills or specific assignment-tailored
sessions for academic courses within regular lecture times (embedded
sessions). Furthermore, LSC welcomes requests from lecturers to run
independent workshops that focus on a current
assignment: these are an opportunity for students to discuss the
assignment outside regular class time in the presence of an LSC learning
advisor who will facilitate and guide the discussion.
If you would like further information about what the Learning Skills Centre can offer, please contact Angel Nicholson LSC Coordinator ext 4142 or go to www.uco.canterbury.ac.nz/lsc/.

Earlier this year a new events site was launched on the University website (www.canterbury.ac.nz/events). The site can also be accessed by clicking on "more events" at the bottom of the University homepage.
The database-driven site allows staff to search on a wide range of events from academic conferences and seminars through to concerts and exhibitions. A feature of the new site is an "add to calendar" button that allows users to save an event into their Microsoft Outlook calendar.
An advantage of the system is that users can see in advance what is happening at the University on any given day. Staff are encouraged to check the database when organising events so as to avoid clashes.
Staff from throughout the University are now entering events directly into the system. Instructions on how to enter events can be found at intranet.canterbury.ac.nz/newsroom/forms/EventEdit.aspx?Item_id=0&type=event
If you need assistance in uploading events please contact michele.downer@canterbury.ac.nz.
The Combined Unions Participation System has recently been reviewed by the University of Canterbury and the Combined Unions, and we are now holding elections for Health & Safety Representatives in work areas which have not reached their recommendation.

For more information please see intranet.canterbury.ac.nz/hr/news/060901healthsafety.shtml.
