General Staff Remuneration Review (GSRR) 2008

It is reaching that time of the year when we start the annual General Staff Remuneration Review process. This is the mechanism by which staff have the opportunity to be recognised for their performance and achievements that have been of value to the University.

Staff involved in GSRR are those continuing staff who are covered by:

  • The General Staff Collective Agreement
  • The General Terms and Conditions of Employment for General Staff
  • The Maintenance Staff Collective Agreement
  • Grounds Staff
  • The Maintenance Workers General Terms and Conditions
  • The above agreements, who are currently on secondment or parental leave.

All fixed term staff who are employed on the above agreements on fixed term contracts of more than 12 months are also considered under this system.

This process involves a personal review of every General Staff member covered by the process, carried out by their line manager. Staff contributions may be rewarded through salary progression and/or bonus payments.

Detailed information is available on the Intranet site; GSRR. This includes a step-by-step map of the process, an outline of the responsibilities of each role, a timeline for actions and details of the criteria. It is recommended that you familiarise yourself with the process.

Training will be available for all line managers and a member of the HR team will be in contact shortly to arrange this.

For further information please initially consult the Intranet, or contact your Manager or HR Advisor.

Seminar: Transition Communities

Tuesday 12 August, 5.05-6 pm, Erskine Rm 111

Our communities presently lack the resilience required to deal with the impacts that will accompany peak oil and climate change. Transition communities are community-based initiatives facilitating the transition from a globalized, oil-dependent society to a re-localized society that can thrive in a world where there is less abundant cheap oil. Transition communities aim to build ways of living that are more connected, more enriching and which recognise the biological and physical limits of our planet. Come and hear Mechanical Engineering postgraduate students and UC Sustainability Advocate, Kate Hewson, talk about these initiatives and how you can start something in your area.

Kā kaiārahi o te kaitiakitaka: Tertiary Education Institutions Leading for Sustainability 1-3 October 2008, Christchurch

Topics range from campus operational matters, teaching and learning, and whole-of institution strategies, to engaging with staff, students, and the wider community. The conference is a great opportunity for interested staff and students to hear what’s happening in the sector and to gain a better understanding of the ways in which their institution could address sustainability throughout all its activities.
