New Vice-Chancellor to start March 1

The University of Canterbury's Chancellor Dr Robin Mann said today the new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Roy Sharp, would take up his appointment on 1 March.

Dr Mann said wished to express the University Council's appreciation of the early start date, and gratitude to Victoria University of Wellington for agreeing to Professor Sharp having a shorter period of notice than required by his employment agreement.

Professor Sharp is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Victoria.
