The University of Canterbury’s School of Fine Arts has put together an inspiring public lecture series titled A Degree of Excellence, where graduates of the School’s Art History department will speak about Canterbury artists.
The programme is: September 18 Dr Rodney Wilson (Director, Auckland Museum) on Barry Cleavin; September 25 Dr Dorothee Pauli (Lecturer, Theory of Art and Design, Christchurch Polytechnic Institute) on Rhona Haszard; October 2 Linda Tyler (Curator, Pictorial Collections, Hocken Library, University of Otago) on Doris Lusk; October 9 Lara Strongman (Programme Manager, City Gallery, Wellington) on Shane Cotton; October 16 Kirsten Rennie (Art Consultant, CoCA, Christchurch) on Seraphine Pick.
The venue for all lectures is the Christchurch Arts Centre, Hurst Seager room, at 7p.m. Admission by gold coin.
