A key tertiary funding document, the University of Canterbury Profile 2005-07, has been given the thumbs up by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC).
In its Profile Assessment Report, TEC notes the University has “clearly outlined” its strategic direction “based on robust strategic planning”.
“The University of Canterbury Profile 2005-07 is a coherent document that demonstrates the University’s sound strategic direction and commitment to its charter as well as the Tertiary Education Strategy (TES).
“The University has done an exemplary job of interrelating its strategic directions and charter goals with the TES.”
TEC also highlighted the University’s research as an area “where planning assumptions and their relationships with key challenges are clearly articulated”.
All Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs) receiving funding from TEC are required to have an approved Profile in place. The Profile sets out the University’s operating plans, key policies and proposed activities for the next three years; objectives, performance measures and targets; short to medium-term strategic direction and activities for which it seeks or receives TEC funding.
University of Canterbury Vice-Chancellor Professor Roy Sharp said he was pleased with the positive tone of the Profile Assessment Report.
“We went through an extensive and rigorous planning and consultation process and were very pleased with the profile we submitted.
“It is very gratifying to the find the TEC valued it highly as well.”
