Strike action at University of Canterbury

Published by Communications and Development

19 July 2005

University of Canterbury academic and general staff covered by collective agreements who belong to the Association of University Staff (AUS), the Public Service Association (PSA) and other combined unions will be involved in a one-day strike tomorrow (Wednesday 20 July).

It is anticipated other staff will be working as usual.

As a result of the strike involving staff responsible for the central boiler plant the campus-wide heating system will not be operating on Wednesday. While lecture theatres will not be heated, they will be ventilated. It will be up to individual teaching staff who are not striking and their students to determine whether lectures will go ahead.

The Recreation Centre and the Central Library will be closed on Wednesday. The Health Centre, however, will be open.
